Water Coryphantha clavata sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of rot.

Reduce watering significantly during the dormant winter months to prevent root damage. Ensure good drainage to avoid waterlogging.

Pruning Coryphantha clavata is generally minimal and usually only necessary to remove dead or damaged parts. If the plant becomes etiolated (stretched due to lack of light), you can behead it, allowing the main stem to callous before replanting or propagating offsets.

Propagate Coryphantha clavata from offsets (pups) that form around the base of the parent plant. Gently detach the offsets when they have developed their own roots and allow them to callous over for a few days before planting in a well-draining cactus mix.
