Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Aporosa benthamiana prefers consistently moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.
Reduce watering slightly during cooler, dormant periods, but do not let the soil dry out completely.
Prune Aporosa benthamiana to maintain its shape and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. This can be done at any time of year, but major pruning is best avoided during extreme weather.
Pruning also encourages bushier growth and can improve air circulation.
Propagation is typically done by seeds or cuttings. Seeds require stratification and specific germination conditions. Cuttings can be taken from semi-hardwood in late summer or early autumn.
Ensure cuttings are treated with rooting hormone and kept in a humid environment to encourage root development.
Repot young Aporosa benthamiana plants every 1-2 years, or when they become root-bound. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, perhaps every 3-4 years. Use a well-draining potting mix.
Repotting is best done in spring before new growth begins.
