Curled dock prefers consistently moist soil but can tolerate short dry spells once established. Water deeply when the top few centimeters of soil feel dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering frequency during cooler months or if the plant is in a shadier location.

Pruning is primarily done to remove spent flower stalks and any dead or damaged foliage. Cutting back the plant after flowering can prevent unwanted reseeding.

In spring, remove any frost-damaged leaves to encourage new, healthy growth. Proper pruning helps maintain plant vigor and tidiness.

Curled dock is easily propagated from seed. Seeds can be sown directly outdoors in early spring or fall. They germinate best with light stratification.

Division of established clumps is also possible in spring or fall, although this is less common as the plant readily self-seeds.

Repotting is typically not necessary for curled dock, as it is often grown as an annual or biennial in gardens and dislikes root disturbance. If grown in a container, choose a large one from the start.

If repotting becomes essential due to overcrowding or root circling, do so in early spring with minimal disruption to the root ball.
