Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings, especially during the growing season.

Reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant to prevent root rot.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a neat shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or weak stems at any time of the year. Pinching back young shoots can also promote a more compact form.

Propagate from seed sown in autumn or early spring in a cold frame. Cuttings can be taken in late spring or early summer and rooted in a sandy, well-drained medium.

Division of established clumps in spring is also an effective method.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, perhaps every 3-4 years, when they become root-bound. Use a well-draining, gritty compost mix.
