Water regularly during the growing season (spring to early summer), allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering significantly once the foliage begins to yellow and die back.

Overwatering can lead to bulb rot. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging.

Deadhead spent flower spikes to prevent seed formation, which can drain energy from the bulb. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering, as this process nourishes the bulb for the following year.

Remove yellowed or dead leaves only when fully senescent.

Muscari commutatum readily self-seeds and also produces offsets (new bulbs). Divide overcrowded clumps every 2-3 years in late summer or early autumn after the foliage has completely died back.

Replant the offsets at the same depth they were previously growing.

Repotting is generally not necessary unless the bulbs are severely overcrowded or the potting medium has degraded. If repotting is required, do so in late summer or early autumn after the foliage has died back.
