Water moderately when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering, as Diospyros tricolor is susceptible to root rot.

Reduce watering during the dormant winter months, allowing the soil to dry out slightly more between waterings.

Prune to maintain desired shape and size, and to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Heavy pruning is best avoided unless necessary for structural correction.

Diospyros tricolor can be propagated by seeds, which require stratification (a period of cold, moist treatment) to germinate. Semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer can also be rooted under humid conditions with the aid of rooting hormone.

Repot young plants every 2-3 years, and mature plants every 4-5 years, preferably in early spring before new growth emerges. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one to avoid overwatering issues.
