Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is a common cause of root rot. Reduce watering significantly during winter dormancy, providing only enough to prevent the leaves from shriveling.

Check the soil moisture by inserting a finger a few centimeters deep.

Prune to maintain shape and size, or to remove any dead or damaged foliage. This can be done at any time, but is best performed in spring. Pruning encourages bushier growth.

Cuttings from pruning can be used for propagation.

Easily propagated from stem cuttings. Allow cuttings to callus over for a few days before planting in well-draining soil. Keep slightly moist and in bright, indirect light until roots form.

It can also be propagated from leaves, though this is slower.

Repot every two to three years, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid overwatering issues.

Repot in spring.
