Water sparingly, allowing soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering is detrimental, especially during dormancy. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

In summer, water very lightly only if absolutely necessary. Aim for dry conditions in winter.

Pruning is generally not required. Remove any dead or damaged foliage at the base of the plant as needed. Deadheading spent flowers can improve appearance but is not essential for plant health or further blooming.

Propagate by seed sown in autumn or early spring, or by careful division of established clumps in early spring. Seeds may require a period of cold stratification.

Divisions should be replanted immediately into well-draining soil.

Repot rarely, only when the plant becomes significantly pot-bound. This is best done in early spring before active growth begins. Use a very gritty, free-draining compost mix.

Handle the root system gently to minimize disturbance.
