Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings, especially during warmer months.
Reduce watering frequency in cooler periods to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage.
Prune to maintain shape and size, and to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done year-round, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
Use clean, sharp secateurs.
Propagate from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Use a rooting hormone to encourage faster root development. Plant the cuttings in a well-draining potting mix and keep them in a warm, humid environment.
Patience is key for successful rooting.
Repot young plants annually, and mature plants every 2-3 years, preferably in spring. Use a well-draining potting mix. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excess moisture retention.
Trim roots if necessary.
