Water regularly, especially when young and during dry spells. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings once established.

Reduce watering in autumn and winter.

Prune to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done in late winter to shape the tree and improve air circulation. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the tree.

Propagate from seed, which requires stratification (a period of cold, moist conditions). Softwood or semi-hardwood cuttings can be taken in summer and treated with rooting hormone. Grafting is also an option.

Young plants benefit from repotting every 2-3 years in early spring to refresh soil and provide more space. Mature trees generally do not require frequent repotting and are best left undisturbed unless there are specific issues.
