Easter LilyLilium longiflorum

Easter lilies require consistent moisture during their active growth and flowering periods. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry, ensuring good drainage to prevent bulb rot.

Reduce watering significantly after flowering as the plant enters dormancy, allowing the soil to dry out.

After flowering, deadhead spent blooms promptly to prevent seed formation, which diverts energy from the bulb. It is crucial to allow the foliage to remain on the plant until it naturally yellows and dies back.

This process enables the leaves to photosynthesize and store vital energy in the bulb for the following season's growth. Once completely withered, cut the dead stems back to the ground.

Easter lilies are commonly propagated through bulb scales or by dividing offsets that naturally form around the main bulb.

For bulb scaling, carefully remove individual scales and plant them in a moist, sterile growing medium.

Offsets, or bulblets, can be gently separated from the parent bulb during its dormant period, typically in autumn, and then replanted to grow new plants.

Repotting Easter lilies is generally recommended every 2-3 years, ideally during their dormant period in late autumn or early winter.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one, ensuring it has excellent drainage holes.

When repotting, refresh the soil with a well-draining, rich potting mix, taking care not to damage the delicate bulb or its root system.
