Eastern Baccharis is drought-tolerant once established. Water regularly during the first year to promote root development.

After establishment, water only during prolonged dry periods to prevent waterlogging, which it dislikes. Ensure good drainage to avoid root rot.

Pruning is mainly for shape and size control. To encourage a bushier habit, prune back stems by one-third to one-half in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches at any time.

Eastern Baccharis can be propagated from seeds, which germinate readily when sown in spring. Semi-hardwood cuttings taken in late summer or early autumn can also be rooted under mist with bottom heat.

Division of clumps in spring is another effective method.

Repotting is rarely necessary for established plants, as they are quite tolerant of poor conditions.

If container-grown plants become root-bound, repot them in spring into a slightly larger container using well-draining potting mix. Avoid overpotting.
