Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water Eastern Chamomile regularly, especially during dry spells, ensuring the soil is consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings.
Reduce watering frequency in cooler months to prevent root rot. Good drainage is essential.
Prune Eastern Chamomile to maintain a tidy shape and encourage bushier growth. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to promote continuous blooming.
Light trimming can be done after the main flowering period to encourage a second flush, or in early spring to remove any winter damage.
Eastern Chamomile is easily propagated from seeds sown directly in the garden after the last frost, or started indoors 6-8 weeks prior.
It can also be propagated by division of established clumps in early spring or autumn. This method ensures true-to-type offspring.
Repotting is generally not required for Anthemis ruthenica, as it is often grown as an annual or short-lived perennial.
If grown in containers and root-bound, repot in early spring into a slightly larger pot with fresh, well-draining potting mix. Ensure adequate drainage holes.
