Pruning is primarily for aesthetic purposes and to manage size. Cut back the dead foliage to the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. This removes any winter damage and tidies up the plant.

Eastern Gamagrass can be propagated by seed or division. Sow seeds in fall or early spring. Division is best done in early spring as the plant begins to grow.
