Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry, typically every 2-4 weeks during the growing season. Reduce watering significantly in winter, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings.

Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogged conditions.

Prune to remove dead or damaged leaves and to control the plant's shape and size. Use clean, sharp scissors or a knife to make clean cuts.

Pruning can also encourage more compact growth and propagation by removing offsets.

Propagate readily from offsets (pups) that form around the base of the mother plant. Gently separate the offsets with roots attached and allow them to callus for a few days before planting in well-draining soil.

Leaf cuttings can also be used but are less reliable.

Repot every 2-3 years, or when the plant becomes root-bound and offsets fill the pot. Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one with ample drainage holes.

Use a gritty, well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. Repot in spring.
