Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. Ensure good drainage, especially in containers. Reduce watering during winter dormancy.

Prune to maintain shape and size, and to remove any dead or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done in late winter or early spring before new growth appears. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the plant.

Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer or by seeds sown in autumn. Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and placed in a well-draining medium. Seed germination can be slow and erratic.

Repot young plants annually, and mature plants every 2-3 years, preferably in spring. Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix. Ensure the new pot is only slightly larger than the previous one.
