Use room temperature, preferably filtered or rainwater, to avoid mineral buildup on the fronds.

Prune only to remove dead or damaged fronds. The sterile basal fronds (shields) are important for the plant's health and should not be removed unless they are fully browned and dried.

Use clean, sharp tools to make cuts close to the base.

Propagation is typically done by division of established plants or through spores. For division, carefully separate young plantlets that form at the base of mature ferns during repotting.

Spore propagation is more complex and time-consuming.

Elkhorn ferns are epiphytic and do not require frequent repotting. They thrive when mounted on bark or grown in a coarse, well-draining orchid mix.

Repot only when the plant becomes severely pot-bound, usually every 2-3 years.
