Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. While drought-tolerant once established, consistent moisture promotes better growth, especially in container plants.
Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. Reduce watering in winter when the plant's growth slows.
Pruning is typically done to shape the plant, remove dead or damaged stems, or control its size. Light pruning can be performed in spring or after flowering.
Heavy pruning is best avoided unless necessary to rejuvenate an old plant.
Propagates readily from seeds sown in spring or autumn, either directly outdoors or in a nursery bed. Stem cuttings can also be taken in summer and rooted in moist, well-draining soil.
This plant can also spread via self-seeding.
Young plants may benefit from repotting annually or every two years in spring to refresh the soil and provide more space. Mature plants are generally best left undisturbed, as they can tolerate poorer conditions and do not require frequent repotting.
