Formosan Juniper prefers well-drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering frequency during winter months when the plant is dormant.

Prune Formosan Juniper in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. This is the best time to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.

Light shaping can be done throughout the growing season to maintain desired form, but avoid heavy pruning.

Propagate Formosan Juniper from cuttings taken in late summer or early fall. Select healthy, semi-hardwood cuttings and dip them in rooting hormone.

Plant in a well-draining potting mix and keep consistently moist in a sheltered location until roots form.

Repot young Formosan Junipers every 2-3 years, or when they become root-bound, usually in early spring. For mature plants, repotting is less frequent. Use a well-draining bonsai or general potting mix.

Trim about one-third of the root ball during repotting.
