Water regularly, especially during the first growing season, to establish a deep root system. Once established, it becomes drought-tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.

Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot. Reduce watering in cooler months.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Cut back the dead foliage from the previous year to about 10-15 cm from the ground.

This encourages vigorous new growth and helps maintain the plant's tidy appearance. Remove any weak or damaged stems during this time.

Chinese Fountaingrass is easily propagated by division. In early spring, divide established clumps using a sharp spade or knife. Replant the divisions immediately into well-prepared soil.

It can also be grown from seed, sown in spring, but divisions typically result in faster establishment and truer-to-type plants.

This ornamental grass is typically grown in the ground and does not usually require repotting. If grown in containers, repot every 2-3 years in early spring to refresh the soil and provide more space for root growth.
