Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot.

Reduce watering in winter when the plant is dormant.

Prune immediately after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches.

Light pruning can be done to improve air circulation and remove spent blooms, which can prevent seed formation and direct energy back into the plant.

Easily propagated from softwood cuttings taken in early summer. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in a moist, well-drained compost. Alternatively, semi-hardwood cuttings can be taken in late summer.

Layering is also an effective method.

Repot container-grown plants every 2-3 years, or when they become root-bound. Use a good quality, well-drained potting mix. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one.

Repot in spring before new growth begins or in autumn after flowering.
