Giant Knotweed prefers consistently moist soil. Water regularly during dry periods, especially when plants are young or actively growing. Avoid waterlogged conditions, as this can lead to root rot.

Deep watering encourages a stronger root system.

Pruning is primarily for containment and aesthetic purposes. Cut back stems in late winter or early spring to manage size.

In areas where it is invasive, consider removing flowering stems before seed set to prevent further spread.

Giant Knotweed is easily propagated by division of rhizomes in early spring. Stem cuttings can also be rooted in water or moist soil.

Due to its aggressive nature, propagation should be done with caution and in controlled environments.

Repotting is rarely necessary for established plants as they are vigorous spreaders. If attempting to contain a specimen in a pot, use a large, sturdy container with excellent drainage.

Repot in spring when new growth appears, dividing the root ball.
