Galega officinalis prefers consistently moist soil but can tolerate some dryness once established. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry, especially during hot, dry periods.

Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows.

Deadhead spent flower stalks to encourage reblooming and prevent self-seeding. Cut back the entire plant to the ground in late autumn or early spring to remove dead foliage and promote vigorous new growth.

This also helps maintain a tidy appearance.

Galega officinalis can be easily propagated by division of established clumps in early spring or autumn. It also readily self-seeds, and seedlings can be transplanted to their desired locations.

Cuttings can also be taken in late spring.

Established plants generally do not require frequent repotting and prefer to be slightly pot-bound. If repotting is necessary, typically every 2-3 years, do so in early spring before new growth begins.

Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
