Water regularly during its establishment phase and during prolonged dry spells. Aim for consistently moist, but not waterlogged, soil. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant.

Check soil moisture by feeling the top few centimeters; water when dry.

Prune immediately after flowering to maintain shape and remove any dead, diseased, or crossing branches. This also encourages better flowering in the following year.

Avoid heavy pruning as it can reduce flowering potential. Remove suckers that emerge from the base.

Best propagated from seed, which requires a period of cold stratification to germinate. Sow seeds in autumn or after stratifying them in the refrigerator for 2-3 months.

Grafting onto Laburnum alpinum rootstock is also a common method for superior cultivars.

Repotting is generally not necessary for established trees. Young plants in containers should be repotted every 2-3 years into slightly larger pots.

Use well-draining soil and repot in early spring before new growth begins.
