Halberd Willow prefers consistently moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

In hotter, drier conditions, increase watering frequency to maintain soil moisture. Reduce watering slightly during winter dormancy.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches to maintain shape and promote air circulation.

Light pruning can be done after flowering to encourage bushier growth. For a more formal shape, prune back stems by about one-third.

Halberd Willow is easily propagated from cuttings. Take 15-20 cm hardwood cuttings in late autumn or early winter from healthy, mature stems.

Insert the cuttings into well-draining soil or a sand/peat mix in a sheltered location. Roots typically form by spring.

Young Halberd Willows may require repotting every 1-2 years in spring, especially if they become root-bound. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix.
