Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Allow excess water to drain completely. Trifoliate orange prefers consistent moisture but dislikes waterlogged conditions.

Reduce watering frequency during winter months when the plant is dormant, but do not let the soil dry out entirely.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches to maintain plant health and shape. Trifoliate orange can be pruned to form a hedge or kept as a shrub.

Its thorny nature makes it excellent for security plantings.

Propagate primarily by seed, which requires stratification. Seeds can be sown in spring. Grafting is also common for cultivars, using trifoliate orange as rootstock.

Cuttings are generally difficult to root but can be attempted with rooting hormone.
