Deep watering is more beneficial than frequent shallow watering to encourage deep root growth.

Prune to shape the tree and remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. The best time for major pruning is after flowering in late spring or early summer to avoid removing flower buds.

Light shaping can be done in winter.

Propagation is typically done by grafting onto rootstock in late winter or early spring. Seed propagation is generally not recommended as it may not produce true-to-type offspring. Cuttings can be difficult to root.

Repotting is primarily for container-grown specimens. Young trees may need repotting every 2-3 years, while mature trees every 4-5 years.
