Water regularly, especially during the first few years and dry spells. Ensure the soil is consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings.

Mature trees are more drought-tolerant but benefit from occasional deep watering.

Prune to shape the tree, remove dead or damaged branches, and improve air circulation. The best time for major pruning is during the dormant season (late winter to early spring).

Light trimming can be done in summer to maintain shape. Avoid heavy pruning that could stress the tree.

Propagation is typically done by grafting or from seed. Seeds require stratification. Grafting is more common for cultivars and involves joining a scion onto rootstock, usually in late winter.

Cuttings can also be taken, but are generally more difficult to root successfully for this species.

Repotting is generally not necessary for established trees. If growing a young Silver Lime in a container, repot every 2-3 years in spring, moving to a slightly larger pot. Use well-draining potting mix.

Ensure the root ball is healthy before repotting.
