Water regularly, especially during dry periods, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging, as the plant dislikes consistently soggy conditions.

Reduce watering in cooler months when growth slows.

Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the plant, remove dead or diseased branches, and improve air circulation. Light pruning can be done after fruiting to maintain size and encourage bushier growth.

Avoid heavy pruning.

Propagate from seeds, which require stratification, or from semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and kept in a humid environment until established.

Grafting is also an option for specific varieties.
