Roselle prefers consistently moist soil, especially during its active growth phase. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in cooler weather or when the plant is not actively growing.

Prune roselle in early spring to shape the plant and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Pinch back the tips of young stems to promote branching.

For calyx production, avoid heavy pruning once flowering begins.

Roselle is easily propagated from seeds sown directly outdoors after the last frost or started indoors 6-8 weeks prior. Cuttings taken from semi-hardwood in mid-summer can also be rooted in moist, well-draining potting mix.

Young roselle plants may require repotting annually into slightly larger containers as they outgrow their current pots. Mature plants, especially those grown in the ground, typically do not require repotting.

Ensure any containerized plants have adequate drainage holes.
