Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering slightly during drier, cooler periods.

Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially for young plants or when growing in containers.

Prune to maintain shape, remove dead or damaged branches, and improve air circulation. Light pruning can be done anytime, but major pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Propagate from seeds, which require scarification or soaking before sowing. Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer and rooted in a well-draining medium, often with the use of rooting hormone.

Repot young plants annually or every two years, and mature plants every 3-5 years. Use a well-draining potting mix. Repot in spring when active growth begins, choosing a pot only slightly larger than the current one.
