Iris marsica prefers consistently moist soil during its active growing season. Water deeply when the top few centimeters of soil feel dry.

Reduce watering significantly in late summer and autumn as the plant enters dormancy, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot.

After flowering, remove spent flower stalks to maintain a tidy appearance and prevent seed production, which can deplete the plant's energy.

In late autumn or early spring before new growth emerges, trim back any dead or damaged foliage to about 10-15 cm above the ground. This promotes air circulation.

Iris marsica is best propagated by division of its rhizomes. After flowering, carefully dig up the rhizomes and divide them into sections, ensuring each piece has at least one growth bud.

Replant divisions immediately into well-drained soil, spacing them appropriately for future growth.

Iris marsica generally does not require frequent repotting. If grown in a container, repot every 2-3 years in early autumn or spring before new growth begins.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one, and ensure the rhizomes are planted just below the soil surface with good drainage.
