Good drainage is crucial to prevent root rot.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth starts. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing canes. Thin out old fruiting canes to encourage new, vigorous growth.

For manageable size and shape, a light trim can be done after fruiting.

Propagated by root cuttings or layering. Take cuttings from healthy suckers in late winter or early spring. For layering, bend a low-growing, healthy cane to the ground and bury a section, securing it until roots form.

Seed propagation is also possible but can be variable.
