Alpine Blue-sow-thistle prefers consistently moist soil, especially during its active growth period. Water regularly, ensuring the soil does not become waterlogged.

Reduce watering slightly in late autumn and winter when the plant is dormant or growing less vigorously.

Deadhead spent flower stalks to prevent self-seeding if unwanted, and to encourage further blooming. In late autumn or early spring, remove any dead or damaged foliage to maintain a tidy appearance and prevent disease.

Cicerbita alpina can be propagated by division of established clumps in early spring or autumn. Sow seeds in autumn or early spring, either directly outdoors or in a cold frame.

Germination may be erratic and can benefit from a period of cold stratification.
