After flowering, allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally; do not cut it until it has completely withered. This allows the bulb to store energy for the next season's blooms.

Remove spent flower stalks immediately after blooming to prevent the plant from wasting energy on seed production.

Jonquils are best propagated by dividing overgrown clumps of bulbs in late summer or early autumn when they are dormant.

Separate bulbs carefully and replant them immediately at the same depth they were previously growing. They can also be propagated by seed, but this is a slow process.
