Reduce watering frequency during cooler months or when the plant is dormant, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

Prune to maintain shape, remove dead or damaged branches, and encourage bushier growth. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best performed in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Use clean, sharp tools.

Propagate through stem cuttings or seeds. For cuttings, take semi-hardwood cuttings in summer and root them in a well-draining medium. Seeds can be sown in spring, but germination can be slow and erratic.

Use rooting hormone for better success with cuttings.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring. Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, every 3-4 years. Choose a pot one size larger with fresh, well-draining potting mix.
