Water regularly, especially during establishment and dry periods. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure good drainage.

Reduce watering slightly during cooler, dormant periods.

Prune to shape the tree, remove dead or diseased branches, and manage size. Light pruning can be done any time, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove suckers from the base promptly.

Easily propagated from seed, but germination can be slow and erratic. Seeds should be sown fresh.

Cuttings can also be taken, ideally semi-hardwood cuttings in summer, treated with rooting hormone and placed in a humid environment.

Young plants may need repotting every 1-2 years, while mature trees are generally best left undisturbed. Repot in spring before active growth begins. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Ensure the new pot is only slightly larger than the current one.
