Persicaria microcephala prefers consistently moist soil. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly in cooler months but do not allow the soil to dry out completely.

Prune annually in early spring before new growth emerges to maintain shape and vigor. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing stems. Pinching back the tips of young plants can encourage bushier growth.

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage further blooming and prevent unwanted self-seeding.

Persicaria microcephala is easily propagated from stem cuttings taken in late spring or early summer.

Select healthy stems, cut them into 10-15 cm lengths, remove lower leaves, and insert them into moist potting mix or water. Roots typically form within a few weeks.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring as they become root-bound. Choose a pot that is one size larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, or simply have the top layer of soil refreshed.
