Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during the cooler, dormant months to prevent root rot.

Overwatering is a common mistake, so err on the side of slightly drier.

Prune lightly to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Pinch back the tips of stems, especially after flowering. Remove any dead or yellowing leaves promptly.

Heavy pruning can be done in early spring before new growth begins to rejuvenate the plant.

Propagate primarily from stem cuttings or by dividing rhizomes. Stem cuttings should be taken in spring or summer and placed in moist potting mix. Rhizome division is best done during repotting in early spring.

Both methods usually root readily in warm, humid conditions.

Repot every 1-2 years in early spring, or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend for African violets or gesneriads.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excessive moisture retention.
