Water deeply and regularly, especially during dry periods. Allow the top 2-3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging, as clematis dislikes consistently soggy roots.

Reduce watering slightly in winter.

Prune in late winter or early spring. This cultivar flowers on new wood, so cut back all stems to about 15-20 cm above ground level.

Remove any dead, weak, or damaged stems at the same time to encourage vigorous new growth.

Easily propagated by layering in late summer or early autumn. Bend a low-growing stem to the ground, make a small wound on the underside, and bury that section in soil.

It will root over winter and can be transplanted the following spring.

Young plants may need repotting every 1-2 years into a slightly larger container. Mature plants are best left undisturbed as they dislike root disturbance.

Repot only when absolutely necessary, ideally in early spring before new growth begins.
