Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during warm weather. Water deeply at the base of the plant. Reduce watering as the plant matures and begins to form its edible stalk.

Leeks generally do not require pruning in the traditional sense. The edible part is the blanched stem, which is achieved through hilling. Remove any yellowing or dead leaves to maintain plant health and prevent disease.

Harvest when the stalks reach desired thickness.

Leeks are primarily propagated by seed. Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost or directly outdoors in spring after the danger of frost has passed. Seeds germinate best in warm soil.
