Ensure good drainage.

Prune to shape the tree, remove dead or diseased branches, and to encourage bushier growth. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best done in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Remove crossing branches to improve air circulation.

Propagate from seeds sown in spring or by semi-hardwood cuttings taken in summer. Seeds may require stratification and can have variable germination rates.

Cuttings should be treated with rooting hormone and kept in a warm, humid environment until established.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring. Mature trees can be repotted less frequently, typically every 3-5 years. Use a well-draining potting mix.
