Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Water consistently to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot. Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings for established plants.
Reduce watering during winter dormancy.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms and prevent self-seeding. Trim back any leggy or overgrown stems in late spring or early summer to maintain a compact shape.
Remove any dead or damaged foliage at any time of year.
Easily propagated from seeds sown in early spring or autumn. Can also be propagated by division of established clumps in spring or early autumn. Cuttings can be taken in late spring.
Young plants may need repotting annually or bi-annually in spring. Established plants are generally slow-growing and do not require frequent repotting.
Choose a pot with good drainage and a well-draining soil mix when repotting.
