Mahua trees prefer consistent moisture during their establishment phase. Once mature, they are quite drought-tolerant, but regular watering during prolonged dry spells will support better flowering and fruiting.

Avoid waterlogged conditions, as this can lead to root rot. Water deeply when the top few centimeters of soil feel dry.

Pruning for Mahua is primarily for shape, removing dead or diseased branches, and improving air circulation. Heavy pruning is usually not necessary.

If required, perform it during the dormant season (late winter or early spring) to minimize stress and allow the tree to recover quickly and direct energy to fruit production.

Mahua can be propagated through seeds, which require fresh collection and immediate sowing as they lose viability quickly. Grafting is also an effective method for ensuring desirable traits are passed on.

Air layering can be successful for vegetative propagation, but is more labor-intensive.

Repotting is generally not applicable to Mahua trees as they are large forest trees. For young saplings grown in containers, repotting may be needed every 2-3 years to provide more space for root growth.
