Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during winter dormancy.

Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in container plantings.

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches to maintain shape and encourage vigorous growth.

Light pruning can also be done after flowering to remove spent flower stalks.

Propagate by division of clumps in early spring or by softwood cuttings taken in late spring or early summer. Cuttings should be rooted in a moist, well-draining medium. Divisions should be replanted promptly.

Repot young plants annually in early spring. Mature plants can be repotted every 2-3 years or when root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one to avoid excessive moisture retention.
