At-a-glance light, water, soil, and growing conditions from plant data
Full Sun
100% intensity
Prefers full sun to thrive and produce fruit. Young plants may benefit from some partial shade in extremely hot climates.
Consistent Moisture
75% intensity
Keep soil evenly moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging.
Well-draining, fertile
50% intensity
Warm Tropical
100% intensity
Requires warm temperatures, ideally between 20-30°C. Sensitive to frost and prolonged cold spells.
Regular Feeding
75% intensity
Feed with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season, increasing potassium content for fruiting. Reduce in winter.

Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Marang prefers consistently moist soil but dislikes waterlogged conditions. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly during cooler, less active periods.
Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in container-grown plants.
Pruning for Marang is primarily for shaping and removing dead or damaged branches. This is best done after fruiting. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the tree.
Focus on maintaining an open canopy to allow for good air circulation and light penetration.
Marang is typically propagated by grafting, which is the most reliable method for ensuring desirable fruit quality. Seeds can be used but may result in variable fruit characteristics.
Grafting is usually performed on young seedlings or rootstock.
Young Marang trees in containers should be repotted every 1-2 years, preferably in spring. Move to a slightly larger pot with well-draining potting mix.
Mature trees are less frequently repotted and may require root pruning if they become pot-bound, but often thrive in the ground.
