Iva annua prefers consistently moist soil, especially during its active growth phase. Water deeply when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.

Reduce watering slightly during dormancy in winter to prevent over-saturation.

Pruning is mainly for shaping and encouraging bushier growth. After flowering, or in late winter before new growth begins, prune back by about one-third to one-half. Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing stems.

This also helps maintain a more compact form.

Iva annua is easily propagated by seed. Sow seeds directly outdoors in early spring after the last frost, or start them indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost.

Cuttings can also be taken in early summer and rooted in moist soil or a propagation medium.

As an herbaceous perennial, Iva annua typically doesn't require frequent repotting. If grown in a container, repot every 2-3 years in early spring into a slightly larger pot.

Ensure good drainage in the new pot to prevent root rot.
