Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry. Allow excess water to drain away to prevent waterlogging, as this legume can be sensitive to overly wet conditions. Reduce watering frequency during cooler months.

Prune to maintain desired shape and size, and to remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light pruning can be done anytime, but heavier pruning is best performed in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.

Propagate from seeds, which require scarification or soaking in hot water to break dormancy. Germination can be erratic.

Cuttings can also be taken from semi-hardwood in summer, but are generally less successful than seed propagation.

Repot young plants annually or every two years in spring when they become root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Mature plants can be repotted less frequently, perhaps every 3-4 years, or when they show signs of outgrowing their container.
