Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in cooler months to prevent root rot. Ensure good drainage to avoid standing water.

Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or leggy stems. Pinching back the tips of new growth can also promote a fuller plant.

Use clean, sharp pruning shears.

Medinilla alpestris can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take 10-15 cm cuttings from healthy stems in spring or early summer. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant in moist, well-draining potting mix.

Cover with a plastic bag to maintain humidity.

Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix, preferably one formulated for aroids or a general houseplant mix with added perlite.

Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one.
