Watering, pruning, propagation, and repotting details from plant data
Mimosa adpressa prefers consistently moist soil but dislikes waterlogging. Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry.
Reduce watering slightly during cooler months, allowing the soil to dry out a bit more between waterings. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Prune Mimosa adpressa to maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth. Pinch back the tips of young stems to promote branching. Remove any dead, damaged, or leggy shoots as needed.
Light pruning can be done anytime, with heavier pruning best done in early spring before new growth begins.
Propagate Mimosa adpressa from stem cuttings taken in spring or early summer. Select healthy, non-flowering shoots, and dip the cut end in rooting hormone before planting in a well-draining potting mix.
Keep the cuttings moist and in a warm, humid environment until roots form.
Repot Mimosa adpressa every 2-3 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the current one. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of peat moss, perlite, and sand.
Repotting is best done in early spring before the plant starts its active growth phase.
